There have been times when I have felt insecure and confused about what was happening in my life and around me; feeling a bit ‘tossed around by waves’. Only to realise those negative thoughts were not true, but in reality my God was keeping me secure and all was going according to His good plan for me. There was nothing for me to feel insecure about. I am completely secure in God, my Rock. My Father God’s plan for my life is prevailing; even if I do not always fully understand, perhaps in a season of strengthening me as I trust in Him. I need to trust God.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock” (Isaiah 26:3-4, ESV).

God is trustworthy. I have been so encouraged in realising that I can live in peace; having to do with my mind and my choosing to actively stand firm on the truth. Spending time in God’s presence, inviting the Holy Spirit to come, as I enjoy praying and reading the Bible, the Word of God. I must remember I am a child of God, as “…to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12, ESV). My Father God is a good father and loves to take care of me, as He does all His children. I can live in the victory that Jesus won on the cross, in His mercy and grace. I can live an abundant life, where I am not tossed around in this restless, anxious, fearful, and striving world. As Paul explains in 2 Corinthians 10:5, what we need to do, we “… destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” (ESV). We can ask for God’s help to take our thoughts captive. In taking our thoughts captive, we do not allow lies to affect our lives. We are instead more aware of our thoughts, refer to the Word of God for truth, and act on the truth.

Living our lives built on the Word of God. As part of Jesus’ teaching, He describes in a parable that we need to build our house on the rock.

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” (Matthew 7:24-27, ESV)

Built on the rock, the house did not fall. The rock steady and secure.

As we live our lives directed by what we receive in the Word of God, we are secure.

God wants us to come to Him, let Him direct and lead us, and realise we are secure in Him. This is something I am learning to do, and reminding myself to do.  You can reach out to Him to help you with your mindset, to show you where you need His help so that you can live out from what is in the Word of God. We can be empowered by the Holy Spirit, have a spirit of “…power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV). God loves each of us.

We hold onto the promises of God, including what David wrote in Psalm 18:1-2,

“I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” (ESV).

The Lord Jesus is our Rock.

The Lord Jesus made a way for us; He rescued us. Jesus Name is above all names; He “…who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4, ESV).

We do not rely on our strength, but our Lord Jesus makes our steps secure.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” (Psalm 40:1-2, ESV)

God wants to direct your steps in the unique plan He has for unique you.

Prayer

Dear Father God,

Almighty God. Our Rock. There is none like You. Thank-You for Your amazing love, Heavenly Father.

Thank-You for Your great grace; empowering us.

Thank-You that as we trust in You, lean not on our own understanding, and acknowledge You in all our ways, You direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6, NKJV).

May You continue to guide me, strengthen me, and help me “…take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5, NIV).

Thank-You for the abundant life given to me, in the victory of Christ Jesus on the cross. My life precious and unique.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
