Every breath we breathe has been given to us by God. Life is given to us; every life is a gift. Our loving Father God created each of us, and He cherishes each person more than we can comprehend. Do you know how cherished you are?

Our Creator God put much thought into you. He decided when you would be born; He decides who lives.

Even before you were conceived, God planned for you to be born; your life is planned.
Even before you were conceived, your precious life began in the eyes of the One who gives life.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;” (Jeremiah 1:5, NIV)

“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them!” (Psalm 139:16-17, NIV)

Even before you breathed your first breath, you were set apart. You belong to God. You are special; the apple of His eye (Psalm 17:8 & Proverbs 7:2, NIV). Every life is so precious.

Each life is worth so much that Jesus died for each person, conquered sin and death, so that we can have eternal life. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, NIV). When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, we are redeemed, given righteousness by grace. “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:13, ESV).

Jesus gave us freedom to live, to live an abundant life. Jesus said “…I came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10, ESV). Free of worry, fear and anxiety. Free of pride, including trying to control everything. Does any human being have the right to decide, for just any reason, to take away the life of someone; this life planned by God before the person is conceived?

God is the One who decides the worth of a life.

At the time of creation, “…the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being” (Genesis 2:7, NIV). God gave us human beings the breath of life, even though we fell into sin, Jesus Christ came to earth to redeem us.

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)

Jesus Christ reaches out to all people, including those who have not always understood and respected that God decides who lives. It is true that “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23, ESV). “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9, NIV). We can start our life afresh.

Jesus is “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6, ESV). Living life with Jesus is a blessed life; free to fulfill the purpose God has planned specially for you.

Prayer

Dear Father God,

I praise You; there is none like You, our Mighty Creator! I am in awe of your power and love. Thank-You for giving me life; I am indeed fearfully and wonderfully made. Please forgive me for my sins, including where I have not respected the value of my life or that of others. Thank-You for forgiving me, in Your mercy and grace. Thank-You Jesus that You have given me an abundant life. Please may You help me see myself and others the way You do, and guide me in what way I can stand up for and help others.

In Jesus name, Amen.
